KEF, the renowned British manufacturer of innovative, reference-quality loudspeakers, debuted two innovative soundbar home theatre models designed to enhance the style and sonic experience that the latest high performance flat panel displays demand. True to the KEF name, the sound of both the HTF 8003 or 7003 is so natural and lifelike that it faithfully reproduces the detailed high definition audio found on today’s movie soundtracks.

The KEF HTF8003, designed to complement flat panels 42 inches or larger, accurately reproduces the home theatre’s front soundstage from a single enclosure that replicates the performance of three independent loudspeakers. The acoustically inert enclosure is constructed of aluminum and then expertly finished in high-gloss black. Each enclosure is very shallow in depth (3.1” on 8003 and 2.4” on 7003) making them ideal to partner with the thinnest displays.

The HTF8003 features the company’s trademark Uni-Q® driver in each of its three channels, utilizing a 15mm tweeter and 75mm mid-bass driver along with a 75m woofer and 75mm ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator) for additional bass output. The technology behind the patented Uni-Q driver configuration is that the tweeter is placed precisely in the center of the bass/midrange cone. This achievement creates a perfect audio source that delivers proper phase and time alignment as well as smooth, even sound dispersion throughout the room.

Like its larger sibling, the HTF7003 was also designed to complement today’s high performance flat panel displays. Its compact aluminum enclosure, also finished in a striking high-gloss black finish, makes it ideal for fine displays 32 inches and larger. The HTF7003 is a two-way design that recreates the front soundstage utilizing a 19mm aluminum tweeter and twin 500mm lf drivers, in each of its three channels.

“For decades, KEF has been world-famous for accurately reproducing audio in a wide range of performance applications. Delivering great home theatre sound to complement the finest flat panel displays fits perfectly with our mission”, commented Alec Chanin, President of KEF America. “The new HTF8003 and 7003 look great, are easy to install and deliver a sound experience that rivals the likes of expensive freestanding speakers.”

Both the HTF8003 and HTF7003 are closed-box designs with magnetic shielding and power handling of 100 watts with an 8 ohm impedance. Each comes supplied with a wall mount bracket and table stand for a wide array of installation needs. The new KEF soundbars will be available to order in September and shipping in November 2009.

Key Features:

High Performance- KEF soundbars precisely replicate the front soundstage of left, center, right

Unique technology and design- patented Uni-Q drivers in HTF8003 provide pinpoint imaging and smooth, wide dispersion

Stylish- high gloss black aluminum enclosures and exceptionally shallow depth provide an elegant complement to any quality video display.

Simple and flexible to install- comes supplied with wall mount and table stand.

KEF, the renowned British manufacturer of innovative, reference-quality loudspeakers, announced the addition of three models to its new Ventura Series, a line of premium loudspeakers for outdoor applications. Achieving quality sound outdoors however presents unique challenges and demands high performance solutions. KEF has clearly responded with three high performance, all-weather loudspeakers designed to satisfy the most discerning music lovers.

The Ventura 4 ($250 pr MSRP), Ventura 5 ($300 pr) and Ventura 6 ($400 pr) are in stock for immediate delivery and come supplied with a clever “ratcheting” mounting bracket that provides up to 180 ° rotation for virtually any placement requirement. All Ventura models also come supplied with two ¼-20 brass inserts for use with aftermarket mounting systems.

Performance-wise, the three Ventura models deliver KEF-quality sound through fluid-cooled anodized aluminum tweeters and long throw woofers with injection-molded cones and rubber surrounds. With two-way designs in sealed enclosures, sophisticated crossover design seamlessly integrates the drivers to deliver highly satisfying sound on the patio or deck, on the yacht or by the pool; virtually any outdoor venue where quality sound is desired.

To ensure that Ventura speakers fully withstand the rigors of rugged outdoor environments and continue to perform properly, KEF engineers first selected weather-resistant sealed ABS composite enclosures that are UV treated. The bracket and grilles are powder-coated, rustproof aluminum. Even the aluminum dome tweeter is anodized for protection from the elements.

“As music has become more of a lifestyle form of entertainment, people have looked to enjoy their favorite tunes where they entertain. That means the patio, back deck, the pool or even on their boats”, explained Alec Chanin, President of KEF America. “For years, our dealers and even KEF owners have asked us to provide KEF quality in an all-weather design. After much hard work, we are proud to offer Ventura as the answer.”

The KEF Ventura Series are available now for immediate delivery.

KEF, the renowned British manufacturer of innovative, reference-quality loudspeakers, unveiled a cutting-edge subwoofer that combines the freedom and convenience of no speaker wires with remarkable sound quality. The new HTB2SE-W takes a quantum leap forward in the evolution of KEF audio technology to make the promise of a high performance wireless subwoofer a reality.

The HTB2SE-W is a marriage of two KEF award-winning products – the HTB2 subwoofer, part of the KEF Home Theater line of 5.1 audio systems, and the Universal Wireless kit.  Both have won multiple awards across the globe, making them a perfect fit in the union of form and function.

The new wireless subwoofer is worthy of the KEF name, synonymous for the most demanding home theatre and music systems. The installer or end-user can locate the HTB2SE-W virtually anywhere in the room they like and without the clutter and constraints typically encountered with a wired sub. Then they can enjoy remarkable bass with lifelike clarity and detail; all with reliable performance and a lack of interference.

Once in use, the impressive technology can be forgotten because the subwoofer’s automated signal processing means there are no buttons or dials to get in the way of enjoying great bass.

“Finally, discriminating music and movie lovers can have a great sounding subwoofer without having to fuss with wires and complicated setup”, commented Alec Chanin, President of KEF America. “With our new HTB2SE-W, the end-user can be up and running in minutes without wires running across their floor. Better yet, its unique design with vertical or horizontal placement options, it can be placed almost anywhere in the listening area. This sub is finally what the market has been waiting for. ”

A compelling combination of signal transmission, reception, and processing technologies come together in this next generation of KEF’s wireless system to ensure superb signal reliability and CD-quality sound transmission.

Using the acoustic design from the multi-award winning HTB2SE, the subwoofer’s ultra-reliable, high efficiency, 250W Class-D amplifier powers a 250mm (10in.) driver which, together with a matching auxiliary bass radiator produces amazingly deep, solid, and tuneful bass.

Whether you prefer to position it vertically or horizontally, you get the same great performance: an acoustically inert, extremely stylish enclosure shaped to eliminate internal standing waves. Extremely fast response and SmartBass™ ‘connect and go” versatility combined with easy to use bass boost and phase controls to make the most of the sub’s position in the room.

The KEF HTB2SE-W comes complete with amplifier and wireless transmitter for $1200 MSRP. It is available to order now and will be shipping in September 2009.

An engineering tour de force, the KEF Concept Blade loudspeaker is the result of three year’s exhaustive testing, expert analysis and intricate experimentation.  As a concept piece it highlights KEF’s exceptional research and development prowess, showcasing the brand’s cutting-edge capabilities that are sure to influence future products – and, arguably, the future of loudspeaker design.

Pulsating at the heart of KEF’s Concept Blade is its Single Apparent Source technology. For highest quality sound reproduction the driver sections of a multi-way loudspeaker must work together, and thus need very similar individual sound-fields. This is particularly important at crossover frequencies; the frequencies at which sound output switches from one driver to another. The Single Apparent Source technology is a perfect accompaniment to the KEF Uni-Q.  Together they result in a loudspeaker with unrivalled coherence throughout the entire frequency range. This technology in itself, presents the case for Concept Blade to be classed as arguably one of the first revolutionary loudspeakers of the 21st Century.

The materials engineering in Concept Blade – with every component being designed from the ground up – is incredibly complex and sophisticated, yet like its sculptural form, the theoretical engineering tenants are beautifully simple.

Concept Blade is a breakthrough product offering an advantage not just to the consumer but to the advancement of audio industry.  Take the four 10” (25 cm), newly developed bass drivers, which deliver Concept Blade’s phenomenal and notably distortion-free low frequency response. The engineering principle behind their configuration is wonderfully straightforward – let the huge forces of each cone cancel each other out by arranging them in opposed, symmetrical pairs – but its effective implementation is fraught with engineering obstacles.

Yet KEF has delivered, ingeniously preventing these beasts from muddying the sound by distorting the cabinet when in motion. The force produced by the bass drivers is so strong that the massive rear magnets have had to be bonded directly to each other to obtain the full benefit of this technology.
They are side firing so their acoustic centre coincides with those of the 10th generation KEF Uni-Q midrange driver and tweeter – the ground-breaking Single Apparent Source technology. This is found in the driver itself, with the tweeter carefully positioned so that it has the same acoustic centre as the mid-range driver. Formed from critically braced liquid crystal polymer – a light but immensely stiff material – and backed by a huge 3” (75 mm) voice coil to move any break-up way above its operating range – the Uni-Q device incorporates a 1” (25 mm) titanium dome tweeter whose mechanical characteristics are exceptionally free from resonance in its operating band thanks to rear chamber loading and a patented dome profile, developed using Finite Element Analysis.   The result means that the entire frequency range is radiated from one point in space. It is impossible to determine where one driver stops working and the next begins, meaning that the resulting sound-field is astonishingly convincing.

All this technology is housed in a critically curved cabinet constructed from a carbon fibre, balsa wood composite – as found in ultra-high performance cars. It is used for its exceptional lightness and rigidity. The parabolic curvature of the cabinet increases cabinet strength, meaning sound is only generated from driver movement and not from distortion of the cabinet.

Although the design is all new, Concept Blade is so typically KEF.  As a technology driven brand that’s been innovating for half-a-century, no other loudspeaker company has done more to improve the state of the art.  Concept Blade is simply the latest in a long line of landmark designs that

showcase KEF’s continuing engagement with fresh ideas and new technologies to enrich the enjoyment of recorded sound.

But this is more than just a concept.  It’s a tangible development of an ongoing series of KEF technologies which will feature in many new KEF models in the future.  Concept Blade has simply progressed KEF’s innovation skills to a new standard.  Whatever the future of Concept Blade, be assured that its very introduction heralds a host of technological skills and innovations which will become the standard in high quality loudspeaker design for the some time to come.

But, the question remains; will this radically different and strikingly beautiful design ever see full production?  And that is for the world to decide!

Award-winning MultiZone Audio Receivers, Control Solutions and Integration Solutions to be on display at AVAD and Almo Pro A/V booths

MIAMI, Fla. – May 27, 2010 – Niles Audio Corporation, The First Name In Custom Installation®, announced it will join distributor partners, AVAD and Almo Pro A/V, to showcase a complete array of commercial-grade loudspeakers, A/V systems and integration solutions at InfoComm 2010 held June 9-11 in Las Vegas. Attendees to InfoComm 2010 can experience working demos of Niles’ custom installation solutions, including the award-winning ZR-6 MultiZone Receiver, ZR-4 MultiZone Receiver, TS-Pro Wall-Mount Color Touchsreen, MS220 High Fidelity Wideband IR Sensor and more in booths C5686 (AVAD) and N1125 (Almo Pro A/V) during the show.

“Niles has built a strong reputation for delivering high performance, application specific products that are perfect for commercial applications of any scale,” said Mike Detmer, vice president of sale and marketing for Niles. “Together with our partners, AVAD and Almo Pro A/V, we will present commercial integrators with the wide array of custom installation products and solutions offered by Niles at InfoComm 2010,” added Detmer.

Perfect for commercial applications such as bars and restaurants, Niles’ ZR-6 MultiZone Receiver is a six-source, six-zone distributed audio receiver outfitted with features that today’s multizone customers demand most often—including One-Touch to EntertainmentTM, Plug-and-Play iPod® integration, a built-in AM/FM tuner and weather-resistant keypads. The ZR-6 is expandable up to 18 audio zones for high quality entertainment throughout a light commercial installation.

For enhanced system functionality, ZR-6 customers may choose from a variety of control solutions, including weather-resistant keypads and the TS-Pro, a 3.5” color touchscreen that provides elegant system control and metadata information. The easy-to-use TS-Pro features convenient hard keys that control frequently used functions such as volume and power on/off. Easily configured without a laptop computer, the system integrator simply connects the TS-Pro to the ZR-6 and the system programming is automatically loaded. Also, system changes made in one TS-Pro are automatically populated to all other TS-Pros in the system.

Niles ZR-4 MultiZone Receiver is a four-source, four-zone distributed audio system and is offered as an all-in-one package that includes everything needed to install the system in a light commercial setting. The kit includes the ZR-4 MultiZone Receiver, four Solo®-4 IR weather-resistant keypads, a hand-held learning remote control, three infrared MicroFlashers® and rack mount ears with mounting hardware. By combining all the necessary electronics required for a multizone distributed audio system into a single package, Niles vastly simplifies the sales, ordering and installation process for commercial integrators.

The MS220’s high fidelity wideband amplification optimally amplifies and preserves IR signal integrity and eliminates poor IR performance by accurately passing the low duty-cycle, high data rate IR signals found in many new source components, including AT&T U-verse systems, HD cable boxes and satellite receivers. This new amplification is paired with Niles’ patent-pending Universal Noise Suppression technology, which implements more than 10 different methodologies to ensure effective and reliable operation in a multitude of “noisy” environments.
